Spotify for Authors has a neat insights section that tells you what other authors listeners of your audiobook also played. The first report for Local Boy Done Gone had these:
Ernest Cline makes sense. Ready Player One has been a comp of Timely Persuasion for decades with the heavily referential pop culture similarities, so it’s a natural and expected overlap for the top slot. (The Enumeration Podcast talked a lot about this once upon a time.)
The others were a mystery. The second name rang a vague bell, the third didn’t—but amusingly has the same last name of the bad guy character from both TP & DG.
A quick search revealed Taylor Sheridan is the actor/writer/director who created Yellowstone & Landman. Tom Sheridan was his co-author on one non-fiction book together: How To Not Die In Prison.



I’m sure it’s a small sample size curiosity, but maybe there’s more to it? All have historical fiction aspects, though not in a traditional sense. Timely Persuasion once had a feature in a prison newspaper publication. When I first heard of the 1883 & 1923 Yellowstone prequels my first thought was “I hope there’s a time traveler involved…”
Or maybe it’s more of a statement on what fans of Coverville / Brian Ibbott listen to.
