{"id":496,"date":"2009-03-02T22:45:34","date_gmt":"2009-03-03T06:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=496"},"modified":"2009-03-02T22:45:34","modified_gmt":"2009-03-03T06:45:34","slug":"one-year-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/one-year-later\/","title":{"rendered":"One Year Later"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the release of <em>Timely Persuasion<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 (Technically it was released on February 29th, so this pseudo anniversary date will have to do until 2012.)\u00c2\u00a0 Crazy how time flies.<\/p>\n<p>Some stats from year one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>24,414 Pageviews from 110 countries<\/li>\n<li>4,116 readers of the online edition<\/li>\n<li>75 blog posts<\/li>\n<li>29 online mentions<\/li>\n<li>5 reviews (4 positive, 1 in progress with a promised update)<\/li>\n<li>2 appearances on Coverville<\/li>\n<li>1 live reading in Hollywood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And a (roughly) chronological list of highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"www.LB-DG.com\" href=\"http:\/\/lbdg.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_self\">LB-DG.com<\/a> predated the official release as a teaser, with sporadic posts using the narrator&#8217;s voice starting in May of 2007.\u00c2\u00a0 (Plus one time travel jaunt <a title=\"LB-DG Archive\" href=\"http:\/\/lbdg.tumblr.com\/archive\" target=\"_self\">a little further back<\/a>&#8230;)<\/li>\n<li>A Blog of Timely Persuasion <a title=\"A Blog of Timely Persuasion - And We're Launched\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=3\" target=\"_self\">debuted<\/a> on launch day and has turned into a bit of a novel in its own right.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m most proud of the <a title=\"Chapter Commentary Index\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?page_id=20\" target=\"_self\">chapter by chapter commentaries<\/a> and the <a title=\"Revisiting Replay\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=125\" target=\"_self\">series about the novel <em>Replay<\/em><\/a> by Ken Grimwood.<\/li>\n<li>TP earned its first review in April courtesy of <a title=\"Review by Devon Kappa\" href=\"http:\/\/nonemaysay.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/review-timely-persuasion-by-jacob.html\" target=\"_self\">Devon Kappa at None May Say<\/a>, followed just over a week later with a <a title=\"Mrs. Giggles reviews Timely Persuasion\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mrsgiggles.com\/pod\/lacivita_persuasion.html\" target=\"_self\">review by Mrs. Giggles<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The first <a title=\"Coverville 465\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coverville.com\/archives\/2008\/05\/coverville_465.html\" target=\"_self\">TP related Musically Challenged<\/a> segment on Coverville aired one day after my birthday in May.\u00c2\u00a0 A second appearance came a couple of weeks ago in <a title=\"Coverville 551\" href=\"http:\/\/coverville.com\/archives\/2009\/02\/coverville-551-from-morning-until-night-some-atomic-yellow-roses-for-your-post-valentine\/\" target=\"_self\">episode 551<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s both weird and fun to hear myself unexpectedly on my favorite podcast.<\/li>\n<li>June brought us the<a title=\"Timely Persuasion - Remastered\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=39\" target=\"_self\"> &#8220;Remastered&#8221; edition<\/a> thanks to the generous talents of my college friend Bryan.\u00c2\u00a0 He did me proud with a fine looking layout that featured (among other tweaks) Mike Doughty&#8217;s handwriting.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m still amazed at the difference it makes when you look at the original and the new versions side by side.<\/li>\n<li>July had a <a title=\"Adventures in Customer Service\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=49\" target=\"_self\">minor snafu with a printed copy<\/a> leading to a temporarily shunned reader, but it all worked out in the end and sparked an ongoing conversation with Scott Schnaars.\u00c2\u00a0 Scott&#8217;s a great guy who heard about the book on Coverville, eventually <a title=\"Timely Persuasion - A Book Review\" href=\"http:\/\/scottschnaars.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/18\/timely-persuasion-a-book-review\/\" target=\"_self\">wrote his own review<\/a>, and really confirmed why doing this blog and interacting with readers is so worthwhile and fulfilling.<\/li>\n<li>The only (partial) <a title=\"A Negative Review\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=179\" target=\"_self\">negative review<\/a> thus far came in October and also sparked some healthy author reader interaction in the comments section.\u00c2\u00a0 I value all opinions and take them seriously, though I am still waiting for Gavin to give the rest of the book a try to see if it sways his feelings any&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>November found me confessing to my <a title=\"ARG(hhh!)\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=242\" target=\"_self\">well-intentioned cybersquatting adventure<\/a>, catching the <a title=\"Twitter - ChristyDena\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/christydena\/status\/1028782527\" target=\"_self\">attention<\/a> of cross-media expert Christy Dena.<\/li>\n<li>The new year found me reading from TP aloud at the Hotel Cafe with Conrad Romo&#8217;s <a title=\"Tongue &amp; Groove\" href=\"http:\/\/tongueandgroovela.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Tongue &amp; Groove<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 The fact that I&#8217;d been attending the event for years as a spectator plus the knowledge that some of my favorite musicians had stood on the same stage put me oddly at ease during my first public reading.<\/li>\n<li>And finally we&#8217;ve arrived in the present, where wider distribution finds <em>Timely Persuasion<\/em> available from numerous fine online retailers such as <a title=\"Amazon.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/0615188826\/?tag=timelpersu-20\" target=\"_self\">Amazon<\/a>, <a title=\"Barnes &amp;
