The part title is 77% to amuse my friend Nate Pepper who introduced me to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=g-HeV8Z6iXc&amp;themeRefresh=1\">similarly named film<\/a> when it was (relatively) new, 7% a nod to a line about a funeral being <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=2227\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2227\">a fun era in <em>L Extreme<\/em><\/a>, and 16% a factually accurate summation of what will happen in this next set of chapters where several get married and a few &#8217;70s rock icons (greats!) die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tidbits:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The opening line directly invokes\/inverts <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/?p=31\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"31\">chapter 12<\/a> of <em>Timely Persuasion: <\/em>\u201cThe wedding was a modest affair held in a lakeside lodge adjacent to the nearby state park.\u201d Although this version is fancier, it&#8217;s held at the exact same venue the other was\/will be.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As the chapter starts I want the reader to assume we&#8217;re at Local Boy&#8217;s wedding, then second guess a little before fully pulling the rug out. How&#8217;d I do?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speaking of Nate Pepper, he&#8217;s fond of calling the few and far between times I get spruced up &#8220;a rare appearance by sharp-dressed Jake,&#8221; which inspired Local Boy&#8217;s wedding attire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confession: I never heard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0MxT31Nqysw\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0MxT31Nqysw\">&#8220;Country Comfort&#8221;<\/a> by Elton John until Jim Bob covered it for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carterusmstore.com\/jim-bob\/thankscd\"><em>This is My Mixtape<\/em> bonus disc<\/a> included with his 2023 record <em>Thanks for Reaching Out. <\/em>Gotta respect a great respecting a great.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I&#8217;m not sure if I spent more time debating whether to keep or drop the O-word line or whether Local Boy&#8217;s <em>one more encore before you&#8217;re your <\/em>lyric should or shouldn&#8217;t include commas. I am sure I never questioned whether or not I was going to detail the love scene after narrating the comically bad one (between these same characters) in TP1. &#8220;Imagine the best you ever had and know this was better.&#8221; Love scene over!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The whole &#8220;Who died on 7\/9\/71?&#8221; bit sets up the not so fun fact that Jim Morrison&#8217;s death was (<a href=\"https:\/\/performingsongwriter.com\/mysterious-death-jim-morrison\/\">really<\/a>) kept quiet for a week to avoid a media circus at his funeral, while giving Local Boy a reason to double down on his suspicions. The Doors second album <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HjemLCQc1vg\">Strange Days<\/a><\/em> has a trumpeter<sup data-fn=\"c2a6472d-d8e6-4d94-98ee-1899cf623e5d\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#c2a6472d-d8e6-4d94-98ee-1899cf623e5d\" id=\"c2a6472d-d8e6-4d94-98ee-1899cf623e5d-link\">1<\/a><\/sup> on the album cover towards the back left.
