It&#8217;s &#8220;I&#8217;m singing in a camp on your lawn.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_2383\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2383\" style=\"width: 261px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kirkfanelly.art\/about.htm\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2383\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/MusicianWithCape.jpg?resize=261%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/MusicianWithCape.jpg?resize=261%2C300&amp;ssl=1 261w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/MusicianWithCape.jpg?resize=349%2C400&amp;ssl=1 349w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/MusicianWithCape.jpg?w=697&amp;ssl=1 697w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2383\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>&#8220;Musician With Cape&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>painting by Charlotte artist Kirk Fanelly, 2009, Pastel on Paper, 22&#215;19<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>It took <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/679wNu6MiLToQIwaYoJ6TU?si=10491bd59e5c4a6c\">Priscilla Ahn&#8217;s cover version<\/a> to make me realize my error (fun fact: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JNHmQkKy-pk&amp;list=PLPvpDqDuP2YwlbUXsJOEcpIvtLBwHyejA&amp;index=12\">Jonathan Wilson&#8217;s cover<\/a> goes &#8220;singing to the bird on your lawn&#8221;), but when it came time to write the <a href=\"https:\/\/books2read.com\/b\/lx\"><em>L Extreme<\/em><\/a> chapter I owned my mistake and did it the way I always heard it.<br \/><br \/>What would someone standing in a cape on someone&#8217;s lawn do? Especially if that someone had a jambox at their disposal?<br \/><br \/>Sometimes stories write themselves. From here we take our cues from most of the <a href=\"https:\/\/genius.com\/Benji-hughes-vibe-so-hot-lyrics\">remaining lyrics<\/a> in something resembling a play by play of a song that isn&#8217;t that type.<br \/><br \/>Plot-wise I knew it was time to get the whole gang together and moving towards a resolution of what was set up on the first two sides, so here we have Benji, C, L, and Frank all interacting (albeit sometimes from afar) for the first time.<\/p>\r\n<p>Other tidbits:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Side C&#8217;s title bounced between <em>Love is Weird<\/em>, <em>Love is Wild<\/em>, and <em>Love is Far Out<\/em> over the years\u2014all nods to spoken word segue samples found on <em>OXOXOXOXOX (<\/em>aka<em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/5Qm9Og2qHYnn91qripRzXU?si=dalR6lmcTL6iW5omMBXNbw&amp;dl_branch=1\"> A Lovers Extreme<\/a>)<\/em>. I considered changing it per format so the ebook\/paperback\/hardcover would each be different. I also almost used all three, but didn&#8217;t like the way it looked in print. So officially it&#8217;s far out, but spiritually it&#8217;s all of the above.<\/li>\r\n<li>Edit: Old note I found in an early draft: <em>&#8220;Love is a weird, wild, far out extreme razor on a budget you still gotta do next time (maybe, I think) everybody, fall me in.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>Maybe the 3 part title wasn&#8217;t so crazy&#8230;<\/li>\r\n<li>The song &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/2xN1gqf9E0UcMY1bT9YD6W?si=7b9b2e0ed5644387\">Turn on the Charm<\/a>&#8221; felt like a natural companion piece to &#8220;Vibe So Hot&#8221;\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_2388\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2388\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/inovationguru.blogspot.com\/2015\/06\/jawbone-mini-jambox-wireless-bluetooth.html\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2388\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/minianatomy.jpg?resize=300%2C180&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/minianatomy.jpg?resize=300%2C180&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/minianatomy.jpg?w=320&amp;ssl=1 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2388\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">No dials to break off in real life.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\nfor reasons I can&#8217;t quite articulate.<\/li>\r\n<li>It took a long time to get the continuity of the jambox controls right between chapters. It deviates slightly from how a jambox actually works, but these things matter.<\/li>\r\n<li>L lives on the third story since this is Side C\u2014the third story of the book.\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_2386\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2386\" style=\"width: 259px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rC95MEenIxA\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2386\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-25-at-2.01.21-PM.png?resize=259%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-25-at-2.01.21-PM.png?resize=259%2C300&amp;ssl=1 259w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-25-at-2.01.21-PM.png?resize=346%2C400&amp;ssl=1 346w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-25-at-2.01.21-PM.png?w=605&amp;ssl=1 605w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2386\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;As their star-crossed eyes intertwined from afar, Benji was reminded of a movie from 1996 based on a play from 1597 (pilfered from an older poem) that inspired the classic 1980s song currently playing on the jambox.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>Where else can you find three Dire Straits jokes in a row? <a href=\"https:\/\/punstoppable.com\/dire-straits-puns\">Over here<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li>&#8220;A week of bad songs&#8221; was quoted out of context from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2014\/12\/benji-hughes-on-his-3-new-albums.html\">this Vulture interview<\/a>, while &#8220;situations with the neighbors&#8221; is something Benji says in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VzCLI3BJigk\">promo video<\/a> for <em>A Love Extreme<\/em>.<\/li>\r\n<li>I didn&#8217;t know C would be the DJ or Frank would return here until I wrote the scene, but it&#8217;s a great off the cuff right place \/ right time situation.<\/li>\r\n<li>&#8220;I thought he couldn&#8217;t speak&#8221; is another <em>LILILIL<\/em> reference about Space People. Invoking hat line is the main reason for Frank&#8217;s silence at their first meeting and Heartman &amp; Songstress&#8217;s silent movie origins. I tried rewriting Frank&#8217;s intro to allow for talking, but ultimately preferred introducing him as a strong silent type.<\/li>\r\n<li>Remember earlier when C said &#8220;I can&#8217;t recall&#8221; would be a better alibi than &#8220;I had\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_2385\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2385\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2385\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.timelypersuasion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-21-at-10.15.58-PM.png?resize=239%2C82&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"82\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2385\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I really liked that Musician With Cape painting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\nbronchitis&#8221; back in &#8220;You Stood Me Up&#8221; a few chapters ago? It&#8217;s almost like Frank was dropping eaves&#8230;<\/li>\r\n<li>Another draft had Frank solely speaking in\u00a0<i>Frankenstein <\/i>quotes. That gimmick couldn&#8217;t quite carry all of his dialogue, but was fun enough to keep a smattering of for phrasings like &#8220;I am fearless and therefore powerful&#8221; and &#8220;she might refuse to comply with a compact made before her own creation.&#8221; (There&#8217;s also a plot reason Frank knows these excerpts we&#8217;ll get to later.)<\/li>\r\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/3Z25k4ZF6QENy2d9YatsM5?si=14b5cbaf00ac4c79\">I Want You (She&#8217;s So Heavy<\/a>)&#8221; is the song John Lennon actually wrote, not &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/41iPmvB2ogl3dzEHw9EZh0?si=cc4249a47962477c\">He Ain&#8217;t Heavy<\/a>&#8221; from the trippy Chapter 1.
